Azienda Agricola Vignali Varas

With his father Mario, Giovanni Frapporti cultivates the more than 7 hectares of vineyards owned by the family in Vallagarina, specifically in Isera at an altitude of between 300 and 700 metres. The family works in a sustainable and biodiversity-friendly viticulture where the vine is merely a single piece of an interactive and complex ecosystem. The farm is called Vignali VarĂ¡s after the oldest terrace they own, a vineyard that has been handed down in the family for over 280 years. After graduating in oenology and having travelled and worked in various mountain wine-growing areas around the world, Giovanni decided to return to the winery and realise his dream: to start making wine himself from some of his best vineyards (about one and a half hectares). Along the way, he became increasingly passionate about the world of artisanal wine made without artefacts or compromise. The company currently produces two red wines obtained from the union of three indigenous Vallagarina varieties; Marzemino, Enantio and Casetta, which are the result of a recovery and valorisation of ancient and rare biotypes of these vines. The first vintage produced was 2021, of which 2400 bottles were produced. The grapes are fermented spontaneously and without the use of sulphites during vinification. After about two years, the wine is bottled without being filtered, resulting in a mountain red that is both modern and markedly identifiable with the territory.

AGNESE, VALLAGARINA ROSSO

Bringing the wine that was once made in Vallagarina in the Trentino Alps back to life, where the elders tell us that every Marzemino vineyard had a couple of rows of Enantio or Casetta, vines that naturally provided acidity and body to the fragrant Marzemino, resulting in a unique wine with floral and balsamic scents such as violet and geranium.

FU BASILIO, VALLAGARINA ROSSO

A modern interpretation of the tradition of our Vallagarina, where the ancestral and rustic side of the two ancient vines are blended with the caucasian Marzemino. The flavour is rich in structure, which makes it ideal for a long period of ageing in the bottle. Longevity that allows it to "photograph" the territory in all its nuances.
